SAC Mat Bailey - Training Diary 28 October 2011

We woke up to a very foggy morning in Ruhpolding.  We couldn’t see the normal view of the mountains we usually wake up to.  After the normal morning routine we kitted up, jumped on the wagon and headed out for a morning of classic skiing around the Siegsdorf loop.  We got there and cracked straight on with two loops.  It was a good morning session to get us ready for the afternoons race simulation coach had lined up.  We headed back for a nice tortellini lunch (for a change!) and rested before setting off to the Rupolding Race Track for the race simulation.  Coach decided that only Carl and myself will race, because Luke and Danny had been ill in the week and he didn’t want to push them too hard until they were fully recovered.  When we got to the Race Track me and Carl did our warm up for the race and was ready to zero at .  We went through our range drills and got our eye in for the race.  At we started the race where I was to go first with Carl setting of two minutes behind.  I pushed out what I felt was a fairly fast lap, it felt a harder race than the last time but me and Carl pushed hard and came out with good lap times that coach was happy with.  We had shot over our goal of hitting more targets than we missed, and our range drills where still about a minute as well.  So overall it was a good race simulation with some learning points for us both to work on.
