SAC Carl Pointer - Race Diary 31 January 2012

Luke shooting stand on the hectic first leg
Rising at 0830 the lads and I did our 'thang' (morning mobility), shortly followed by breakfast and a zombie like mumbled brief by 'Bubba' (Yes, that's Mat and his big lips lol).
Today was the 4x7.5km biathlon relay, the last race before the petrifying patrol race on Thursday.
Luke started the team off shooting 2, 1 (that means he missed 2 on his prone shoot & 1 on his stand shoot), getting the team into 15th place. Danny pounded his way through his loops shooting 0,0 (Hit all targets :D) and into 7th we went. Matt did equally as well, battling through his heat shooting 1,0 and before we knew it we were in 3rd place! Throughout the coaches 4th heat I recorded split times between him and 1RTR (Royal Tank Regiment- whom are also based at RAF Honington). Eventhough the coach was against Paul Birmingham (1RTR), a GB athlete they were 2mins 46secs behind after change-over and 2mins 35secs behind after the first shoot.
Coach shot amazingly well as usual with 0,0 and we guaranteed ourselves 4th place. An awesome achievement considering we came 14th place last year in the same event!
I'm slightly disappointed I could'nt take part in today's event, however, I'm sure Coach had his reasons...Like saving me for the Patrol race perhaps? Lol
