Carl Pointer - Training Diary - 15 Aug 2012

This morning was spent classicing a new route in Siegsdorf, which took us approx 2hours to complete. Again, I know I always rant on about how beautiful this place is, but its true! Definitely going to miss Bavaria!
Anyhooser, back to the day's events! There was only the coach, Mat and I that did the special smooth route, due to Grant being a girl, I mean having a bad arm still, lol. ( Don't worry he'll be back training properly in no time ;) )
After lunch we prepared our equipment, sharpened our pole tips ( so they don't slip) and took advantage of the hot weather, smeagling off for 4 scoops of mouth-watering icecream...Mmmmmm :P
All day I had been dreading the afternoon's session! I always get butterflies of death before any kind of race (What can I say? I'm VERY competitive!) A full 12k biathlon race simulation ( 5 x 2.380km loops with 4 shoots, prone stand, prone stand) between Mat, Kevin (GBR athlete) and myself. Grant on the other hand ran 5 x special route (for a special person lol), and he only shot in the standing position, but 4 times.
The race itself is tough enough without the fact that it was nearly 30 degrees on the course! Despite the hot weather everyone shot + skied rather well, impressing the Coach with our efforts! Cough (POUNDERS!)

Following are the results and the best results from last Summer to compare;
