Carl Pointer - Training Diary - 23/24 Sep 12

Sunday
Sunday mornings session was an absolute beasting! We did a little thing called 'Nasty Circuits'. Yes the name describes it perfectly! These types of circuits are designed to mix endurance and strength training effectively in one session :)

1 set...
- 1 lap of the Huntly cross country astro-turf track on real skis
- 1 lap of the Huntly skating course
- 10 of the following - pressups, pullups, situps, lunges, flies, squats, diamond pressups, Russian twists and tricep dips.

In total 4 sets were completed with an extra 2 cross country and skating laps. All without any breaks, amazing phys!

In the afternoon we completed a 30min run at level 1 (60-70% of the maximum heart rate) around RAF Lossiemouth, a little tedious but it has to be done :)

For Your Information...
Level 1 - Fat Burning ( easy): at this low intensity, fat is the main source of fuel, sparing the smaller reserves of glycogen (from carbohydrates) used in higher intensity workouts. It feels very easy but allows long slow distance (LSD) sessions to be performed. 30 minutes to 2 hours plus would be no problem, for most athletes. At this pace the body becomes more efficient at burning fat.

Monday
In the morning we pretty much doubled polled/2 phased (arms only) around the whole of RAF Lossiemouth lol...All was completed at Lvl 1.
For Monday afternoons session we had a 1 hour cycling session planned, so we tagged along with the stations spinning session. Everything from squat-sprinting to pressups while cycling...Spinning is amazing, I love it! Such an awesome workout, I don't think I could get any sweatier if I tried! lol :D
