On Thursday we started training off by going a level 1 run
for an hour and a half. We headed into the local town, Lossiemouth, and down
onto the sea front and back to base. To work at level one you need to work to 60%
of your maximum heart rate so we keeping our heart rates to around 120 bpm.
After a long rest we headed to Huntly for our second training session at night.
We arrived to find out we were doing a level 4 skating session which as u can
imagine is pretty nasty. To warm up we skated easy a couple of laps before
moving into the main body of the session. We were to skate for four minutes at
level 4 around the track. In total we did this 4 times with a 5 min break in
between each interval. After a cool down Carl & I headed back to base for a
well-earned rest. For the first session on Friday we headed back down the beach
once more where we were doing hill reps at level 1. This meant we were running
up the hills at a gentle pace then walking back down to recover. Once back we
found out the coach had really meant for us to go a level 1 cross country run,
Woops! After lunch our second training session saw us down the gym for a upper
body pyramid circuit. This is where working in two or more each person takes it
in turn to perform the exercise starting with one rep the two
and so on building until working back down decreasing the reps by one each
time. In the circuit we worked on our triceps, chest, back and abs. thankfully
tomorrow is our day off and a rest is in order.
