Rolling out of bed at 0700 to start morning mobility along with a core circuit was a pain in the ass, but definitely worth stretching of our aches and pains from yesturday’s training session!
Today the weather was sunny and extra hot (bad times for Steve’s pale skin lol). We had the challenge of mountain biking up 2 mountains, Hochfelln (1,671m) and Zinnkophf (1,227m) in under 4hrs.
Before we came to Ruhpolding the team had the option of renting out a bike for the duration of their time here or to purchase their own. After asking around bike shops for prices we quickly found that it was more sensible to put our hands in our pockets and invest in our own. The boys and I were extremely excited to test out our new expensive mountain bikes! However the first part of the ride morale was low because we knew we had 4hrs left of climbing mountains!
I wish somebody had taken a photograph because Luke, Matt and I were sweating like pigs and hanging out big time! On inspection of our riding skills the coach pointed out that mine and Luke’s seats were far too low, and once they were raised we led at the front of the pack for the rest of the trek. Unlike Matt who was dying and gasping for air at each stop as we waited for him lol. He will get better with time he just needs to focus on mastering his gear changes uphill, which are a massive factor in saving energy!
