SAC Mathew Bailey - Training Diary 23 September 2011

We were up bright and early in the usual fashion with morning mobility. Luke took us for our core session doing some back exercises. We then got our breakfast and did the morning routine. We were down the range in the morning so at 8.30 we jumped into the wagon and headed off down to the range for a morning of shooting and skating. It was our first shooting session since we had come back from the UK, so had been few weeks since we had fired last. It took us a few shoots to zero but we were just getting our shooting heads on again. After zeroing we went into some one shot drills. We were going over some things like trigger pressure and alignment just to refresh ourselves. After this we put our skates on and did loops of the track shooting after each loop. it was a good morning session and enjoyed getting back into shooting. We headed back to the house for lunch and a afternoon nap. Our afternoon session was classicing up the Unternberg then nordic walking all the way to the top. We took it in turns one person drove the wagon up the hill while the other two and coach classiced up then we swapped at the top (except poor old coach!!). It was a good session to warm up and work on some technique with coach. On our last run up we stayed at the top and got our walking gear on. We set off walking up the Unterberg with coach setting  a gruelling pace and the gradient very steep in places so after a while we were all blowing hard. We reached the top and get a very good view out into the valley. We then jumped on the chairlift for the easier way down the mountain. that was the end of the first week back and was good to get back into training. We have Oktoberfest in Munich to look forward to tomorrow.
