SAC Matt Bailey - Training Diary 27 September 2011
We woke up at 6.30 this morning because we were heading down the range and had to get there early. I layered up for our morning mobility because it was colder than it has been. After breakfast we headed off down the range for a morning’s shooting. The range was very busy with the Italian national team there, so we only had 3 lanes to fire on. After we had zeroed we went into some one shot drill with abit of skating inbetween to raise our pulse a little and get used to shooting with skates on. We then went onto loops of the skating track shooting as we went round we alternated prone and standing. While we were going round coach stopped at various points around the track and was filming us with his camera to review later and help give us pointers and coaching on our technique. We went back to the house for lunch as usual. After we had eaten we all went into the lounge and coach played back the videos he had took and gave us all pointers and things to think about next time we were skating. In the afternoon coach had a nice bike ride up the Unterberg in store for us so at 3 o’clock we headed out from the house. The Unterberg is not far from the house and we were soon at the bottom ready for the long climb to the top of the mountain. It was hard going with some steep bits but we all made it to the top in one piece. From the top there were some nice views down onto Ruhpolding and other surroundings. After a short rest at the top we soon all headed back down and back to the house. By the time we made it back we were all very tired and ready for some rest.
