SAC Danny Sinclair - Training Diary 13 October 2011

This morning we skipped morning mobility due to hard rain but we carried on with our abs circuit as normal, after abs Matt always manages to fall asleep on the couch, (we're meant to stay awake after abs), this time coach was meeting us at the house, this put Matt on full sleeping alert so as soon as he heard any doors he would shoot up looking like a dazed bird that had just flown into a window.. “It made me laugh anyway.”

The mornings training was back down the range where we had a sprint training session, the weather was pretty poor still which didn’t help. The session began with a warm up around the loop with the coach showing us where the sprints started and ended, also explaining that we had to slow right down after each sprint so that we would be fully recovered for the next sprint. We completed 6 loops with each loop having 5 sprints sections, Carl & I were loving it.. we didn’t even realize how many loops we had done until the coach told us. All in all a very hard but enjoyable mornings training.

Tortellini!!!

In the afternoon I had clearly been told I was riding to the range and back.. I somehow managed to think I was putting my bike in the van to ride back only, I was wrong. I set off a little bit late :/ I managed to make it in time for zeroing.

The afternoons training was shooting tests, the aim was to see how much we have managed to improve from the last time we were tested. Carl being Carl managed to shoot on metal in zeroing, (he manages to do something strange every session.. I'm not much better myself but we're supposed to be the ones setting the example, with it being our 2nd year and all. Oh well that's just how we are.

The test shoots comprised of 3 shoots, the first was 10 shots on each of 4 paper targets, prone, prone, stand, stand. The second test was all on metal targets, one shot drills shooting 20 shots in total 10 prone 10 stand against the clock. The third test was 4 sets of 5 rounds prone, prone, stand, stand also against the clock. I thought I had improved massively from last time which felt good knowing we have another race simulation tomorrow. Luke was blabbing on about something to do with his rifle falling apart but I don’t think anyone cared about his excesses?
