We woke up at where we had a nice extra hour in bed because we were doing the normal Friday race simulation in the morning and not the afternoon. After the normal morning routine we jumped in the wagon and headed off to the range. Coach was opening the range at 10.00am to start zeroing with the race starting at 10.40am. We got there with plenty of time to spare and got all ourselves ready to shoot. Coach told us we were going to be doing a mass start race which Luke and I hadn’t done before so was a good change. It was a chilly morning, so we all warmed for zeroing and then started the race at 10.40. As I thought, we all did the first lap fast as we were all trying to stay with each other and not get left behind. We all came in pretty much together to shoot with Carl and Danny a little in front. Unfortunately Luke and myself didn’t have a good first shoot which made a big impact on the race. It finished with Carl winning followed by Danny, Luke and myself. It was a good first mass start race for me and Luke and we learnt a lot from it that we can hopefully take into the next one. We then headed back to the house for a nice tortellini lunch and rested before the classic session we had in the afternoon. At 3.00pm we set off to the Siegsdorf loop for the normal Friday classic sessions. It was very foggy when we got there so Carl had to attach a flashing light to his helmet just to be safe on the roads. We did one loop at a nice pace and because of the fog and by this stage it was getting dark. Coach decided not to do the second loop due to the lack of visibility. It was the end to a very hard week of training and we were all very tired and were looking forward to a nice chilled weekend to relax.
