SAC Carl Pointer - Training Diary 16 December 2011

This morning we had dry shooting, where in pairs taking it in turn to focus on a specific marksmanship principle for each shot eg. Sight alignment and sight picture... Dry shooting doesn’t seem as rewarding as watching the metal targets falling down, however, it can be done anywhere indoors with a large enough space.  It enables us to keep our shooting skills up to speed, as well as practising getting in and out of the shooting positions and the bonus is we don't have to clean the rifles after - yey!

Around 10.00am we went to the track to provided moral support to the GB team in the IBU (International Biathlon Union) Mens 10km and womens 7.5km Sprints.  It was snowing slightly and the temperture was about -2˚C, but this didn't stop us in our beasty team warm up suits! (Mmmmm...toasty lol). Check out how well the GB team did on the following links:
Im not going to sugar coat it, I've been dreading this afternoon of skating interval training!  We did 6 x 3min sprints around a loop with a one of the steepest hills on the course.  I know what your thinking, “Its not that long" and "your training in a foreign country and getting paid". Well all I can say is, come and try it for yourself - hanging! Time for a protein recovery shake, yum yum, Rego tastes gurrrrd :P
