SAC Carl Pointer - Race Diary 13 February 2012

Yes it’s me, again!  I always get palmed off with driving and writing the blogs jeezee (my latest cool word!).

Today was the 15km Classic Race (Mat's favourite...Pause...Naaaat!), the last race of the RLC's and of the season.
Coach arrived around 0900 to wax up his test skis for the race, while everyone else were scattered about the house doing various bits of admin.
The course itself was pretty straight forward, by that I mean no one went the wrong way (this time lol). It was pretty much flat with a few hills thrown in here and there. I just thought of it as a giant strength session, mainly because I beasted myself double-poling the majority of the course.
For most part of the race I was cheering on the RAF Regiment, RAF Development Squad and a few random friends from the Army that we've made out here.  I set off 1st from the team (bib No. 9), Luke being last with bib No. 112, so I had plenty of time to go for a warm-down ski and pack all the team equipment away.
The Team did well by winning the race overall, and the individual positions were:  Coach 5th, I was 7th (15secs behind coach!), Luke 12th and Mat 21st.
Unfortunately we are unable to partake in the RLC's military patrol race tomorrow and Wednesday and we are not needed to help out tomorrow either, so the Boss has told us to decide on what to do instead.....mmmmm.....Ice skating.....swimming.....gym.....alpine skiing.....?  Choices, choices!
