Carl Pointer - Training Diary - 26 July 2012
For the first hour of today's training we zeroed, shot 5
shot series onto paper in the prone position over and over until we saw (if
any) patterns forming for us to work on, we then smashed 4 mags onto metal
targets, alriiiight! :D
After shooting we embarked upon Speed work/cornering on skates, bluuurgh! (hate
it! Only because its my biggest weakness lol). We focused on using our poles
more, while going around corners, frustrating! ( I felt like strangling someone
lol)
This afternoon in the scorching heat, Grant did 4 x 4km
loops of the Ruhpolding Biathlon Stadium, testing out a new, very steep hill
decline...(My man lol)
Meanwhile Mat and I were trying out our new, flashy, expensive HRM's (Heart
Rate Monitors)...The aim was to complete 4 x 5km loops within our respective
80-85% heart rate thresholds (which we stuck to, apart from when we reached the
top of a steep climb). All good training for the 15km/20km races to be held
early next year at the British National Champs! :D
Throughout our loops of the course, Mr
Sinister ( The Coach lol) strategically camouflaged himself in various bushes
and what. All in order to film our handsome faces whizz by...I mean to analyse
our technique and to makesure noone was slacking. ( Not that we ever do because
we're absolute pounders haha)
Now for some good quality hydration time. Hydration test in the morning, gulp!
