SAC Mathew Bailey - Training Diary - 25 July 2012

Half way round with Chiemsee strectching out behind us
We all woke up a little sore from the gym session we had yesterday but we had a 100k bike ride around Lake Chiemsee to look forward to today. We met Coach down the local bike shop at 09.00 after our mobility session,  kev kane from the GBR was joining us again for the bike ride today. We set off going out towards siegsdorf and doing a small but steep climb straight away it helped wake our legs up. We then dropped down the other side onto the flatter plain that cheimsee is on. We cycled on for about an hour until we reached the lake and then started heading around it. The cycle path was very busy as it is summer and all the tourists were out on a nice bike ride around the lake so we had to dodge them all as we went around. Half way around we stopped at an ice cream shop Coach got himself an ice cream and we all chilled out for a few minutes getting some fluids on. We then set off again around the other half of the lake back towards Ruhpolding. Again we were dodging other cyclists and people walking around the lake after about another hour we left the lake and started on the climb back up towards Ruhpolding they weren’t big hills we are used to but big enough that after 3.5 hours of cycling we felt them in our tired legs. We got back to the house 4 and a half hours after starting so we had made good time doing the distance but we were all stiff and tired by the time we finished.
