Top of the Rauschberg |

About to collapse after 2 mins of dips |

Grant almost putting a dent in the heavy bag! |
This morning things didn’t go as we planned as the coach
fell ill so the training program was changed which allowed us to still train.
Instead of roller-skiing as planned for the second time we again found
ourselves at the bottom of the Rauschberg. After a short run from the car park
along a gravel track we reached the start point. We were Nordic walking as
before which is a fast walk with poles (with a little running thrown in) and
helps to develop the technique used for classic skiing. The first section of the
Rauschberg is a steady gradient, once on the gravel track the gradient
increases a little more so we had to work harder which in turn worked our backs
a lot harder. Near the top the final two sections show if you’ve got what it
takes to keep pushing a little further after an already challenging climb. As
you should have guessed we all have got what it takes! With that we reached the
top six mins quicker than before (1hr 4 mins) leaving time to pose for pictures
at the top. Our afternoon session saw us back down the rocky’s gym also for the
second time which in the heat is sure enough brought on a sweat. The coach emailed
us a program to work from, we had six stations which were the punch bag,
mimicking a ski tuck, triceps dip, half squats, bench press and to finish time keeping/
rest station. Each station lasted for 2 mins which on the triceps dip
especially proved to be a right killer. All of us completed the circuit 5 times
round. We finished the day in the sun enjoying some cake and a drink, which I
may add is always well deserved, all in a day’s work.
