Team starting off on first of 3 1k efforts |
This morning we headed back down the track to continue
working on trying to take 10% off of our original 3k lap times. Gladly the
temperature was about just right if not perfect for training. This time we had
only 3 splits to do, easy you might be thinking but each split was 1000m. Due
to the coach still feeling a bit ill he sat this one out. Everyone’s times to
try and achieve were as follows:-

After we all had finished our laps the three of us headed to
the 100m sprint start point to see who could run it the fastest. With the coach
starting us off we sprinted as fast as we could down the track. Carl came in
first with me coming 2nd right on his shoulder and Mat coming in 3rd.

For the afternoon session we headed down the range to
concentrate on skate combi training, skating and shooting combined. First we
performed one shot drills onto metal targets and in between each shot we skated
around some cones positioned at the rear of the mats to allow us also to
practice getting on and off of the mat quickly and switching our concentration
immediately from shooting to skiing. After firing 2 mags in prone and 2 mags in
the standing position we moved onto firing full series shoots onto paper. In between
each mag we skated around the 1k loop. We shot prone, stand, prone, stand. To
finish we moved onto metal once again and performed full series shoots. This
time though we skated the 1k loop shot prone then only skated a figure of 8
round the range and shot stand. We completed this another time round which
brought us to the end of another good training session.
