SAC Mathew Bailey - Trainng Diary - 11 July 2012

We awoke to more rain this morning and was not looking good for our bike ride today. Carl and I had to go down to the local bike shop and pick up our bikes Carls had gone in for servicing and mine had a flat tyre that needed changing so at 8.30 we drove down to the shop to pick them up. When we returned coach had arrived and we were all ready to set off, luckily the weather had cleared up and it was pretty clear as we set off. The loop we were doing today was reasonably flat to begin with down to Siegsdorf on a cycle path and around to the next town up called Inzell. once we got to Inzell we looped around the back of one of the mountains in the area before we started our climb up a mountain and through a pass at the top. Near the top we stopped for a while to look at the view and get some food in us to keep our energy up. after this we dropped down the back of the mountain near the Raushberg (Mountain that overlooks Ruhpolding) and down a nice downhill section finishing next to the biathlon stadium. Just as we reached the bottom the heavens opened and it started to hammer it down with rain. lucky we were only about 15 minutes from the flat so we all sped up a little to get back but we still all soaked through by the time we got back. it was a good bike ride to end the first training camp of the year back to England now for a race at the weekend.
