Mathew Bailey - Training Diary - 10 Aug 2012

Carl, Grant and the Boss on top of Unterberg
Everyone impressed Carl managed to keep his top on for the photos!!
We walked up the Unterberg this morning the mountain just next to the house not as big as the Rauschberg but just as steep. The boss was joining us again today so I went and picked him up from his accommodation then brought him back to our flat where we were starting from. At 09.00 we set off for our Nordic walk, the first 20 minutes of the climb was on road so it was ok going not too hard. We hit the gravel track put our poles on and picked up the pace a little. The climb was hard going and we were all feeling the power drain from our legs by the time we reached the top. It didn’t seem to take that long to get to the top but I think that is because we are used to walking up the Rauschberg which is higher. The boss was impressed by the view at the top which we admired for a while before jumping onto the chair lift and heading back down to the flat. For the afternoon session we were down Rocky’s gym again this time for a roller train session. The roller train is a body weight poling machine that replicates the poling action so you are working your triceps, back and core. We were doing two minutes on the machine then waiting till everyone had done there two minutes and doing it again we did this 5 times by the forth one all of us were struggling to complete the two minutes so we did the last 5 at just one minute on. By the last few all of our upper bodies felt like jelly and it was very hard to push out the last few reps. It was a good first session on the roller train that I think we will all benefit from.
