Carl Pointer - Training Diary - 09 Aug 2012

The Zugwagon or translated Rollertrain

Pull ups but for skiing, hard yes, very - effective, definately
Yesterday afternoon A new OIC (Officer In Command) arrived to help babysit us while the Coach attends a funeral in the UK. With that in mind we took the boss and gave him a little intro into some of the things we do...
Our warm-up consisted of fun balance and plyometric type obstacles. (Plyometric = short, powerful explosive movements) Everything from sprinting through tyres to slack lines, good stuff!
Once our warm-up was completed we went onto ski-ganging a huge hill 12 times! (ski-ganging = bounding up a hill with poles, which uses obviously not only your legs but your abs, triceps and lats).
The warm-up and teaching the boss how to ski-gang was definitely the highlight of the mornings session :)
I will put this ball through the floor, BANG
In the afternoon we did another hardcore session in the gym, leaving us ridiculously sweaty in the 30+ degree heat!
I love circuit training in 'Rocky's Gym', its hard work but extremely rewarding! Today we managed to do 5 x 8 stations, with 15 seconds change-over time and a couple of minutes rest in-between sets...Performing everything from the punch bag to dead-lifts and bench pressing to skipping! ( we even sneakily changed 1 of the exercises to test out the roller-board, naughty naughty! Haha )
