SAC Steve Boyes Training Diary 28 July 11

Today is the third day of the second training camp in Rupolding, Germany. After mobility exercises, we started the day with a run/walk up the Rauschberg which is the tallest mountain in the local area at 1624 meters above sea level. There were some difficult parts especially at the beginning where we were walking/jogging along very narrow paths with steep drops on one side. On reaching the road, the going became a little easier but there was still some pretty steep climbs, which made me breathe hard. There were clouds covering the top of the mountain so we couldn't see any scenic views for our 1 hour 20 minutes of hard slog to reach the top. Coach then took pity on us and we got the cable car down the mountain, thanking the person whose idea the eXtra card was which gave us the free cable car ride.

After lunch we watched a recording of us roller skiing the day pervious, where Coach pointed out things we need to improve on our individual skiing technique. In the afternoon we headed to the range, were concentrated on different parts of the marksmanship principles applicable to the specific shooting skills for the Biathlon.
