After a much quieter Friday night than the previous one due to people lacking in funds, we picked up SAC Danny Sinclair up from Traunstein train station on Saturday. He’s been on rehab recovering from a knee operation but the Doc’s have upgraded him now so he’s fit again. Aside from getting Danny, it was the normal routine of the local supermarket to stock up on Tortellini and all the other foods that a growing Biathlete needs!!! We then welcomed Danny with a vengence, eventually getting to bed at 4am. That was ok because Sunday was our rest day but it wasn’t really because we had to move back to Traunstein. Come 9am, the Boss is moving around and cracking the whip to get us moving and get the move over and done with. Not the best way to deal with a hangover LoL!!!
Today’s training started at the Siegsdorf loop practising our skate two technique; we did 4 hill reps which were really hard work, the second hill climb had me swallowing hard as I was close to throwing up with the effort. Danny struggled a little due to him not training with the team for the past couple of months but I’m sure he'll be smashing it in no time.
This afternoon we headed to the range to work on our shooting in the standing position, with pretty much two hours of constant rain we were drenched by the end of the session. We practiced getting in and out position and did laps of the arena just using our poles to get our heart rate up. Coach is a great believer in trying to replicate how we will feel during an event so we can always guarantee being out of breath with our heart rate at 180 or more!!!
