SAC Danny Sinclair - Training Diary 18 November 2011

No change with the weather this morning, it is still freezing and still no snow.  We had a change of plan and had to swap the mornings training with the afternoons to avoid the morning frost.  We started with shooting tests and they were as we expected with everyone’s shooting showing improvement.  We finished off the morning with efforts on the ski jumps, this time they were mixed with a few different routes due to snow being laid on the jumps preparing them for winter.  It was a steady pace but more taxing on the muscles rather than the lungs.  Carl managed clear 6 steps almost 7 but not quite ;).  It’s a strange and unpleasant feeling having jelly legs and a massive burning sensation once you’ve completed each route.
Back to the track this afternoon and it still hadn't thawed out fully so we couldn’t do the planned skating, instead we had to stick with ski ganging up the hills then onto the range for shooting.  Carl and I had a bit of a nightmare with one of the shoots, we had to hit 5 targets in a row within a certain time and a limited number of rounds, it took about half an hour before we completed it and move on, by this time the rest of the team had lapped us a few times.  It was terrible and we are supposed to be the ones showing everyone else how it should be done being that we are in our second year.  Everybody has their bad days, with me it’s more often than not :/
