SAC Carl Pointer - Training Diary 12 December 2011

This mornings training session was to consist of 3 x 30mins of constant classic skiing with a 5mins rest.  The tub wax we used was ok but wore out towards the end of the session.  Welcome back to Danny and Luke who are both recovered and are back in training now and after 1 week off they should be extra fresh lol.

I don't quite think 2 days off training was enough!  Our bodies were still pretty weak from the previous 2 weeks of continuous physing.  Anyhooser, back to skiing!  This afternoon we zeroed then moved onto completing 4 x 2.3km loops shooting in the prone position.  Alternating between 4x 2.5km loops stand shooting each time.
Towards the end of the session the Coach got a little bit excited and decided to throw in a mini race to spice things up.  The teams were Luke and Mat ...Vs... Danny and I... Vs... The Boss and Coach...Although the racing loop was only 400m, it was still tricky to get the right recipe... Do I race as fast as I can to beat my opponents, and risk shooting badly, or do I race sensibly and shoot how I normally shoot in training? (Yes, a rhetorical question lol) 1 loop, shoot prone, then we switched with our partner, whom did the same, finishing off with 1 loop and stand shooting. We repeated this twice, the Boss and Coach won the first race, Luke and Mat the second.
You have to bare in mind that it was almost pitch black by this point, with only our targets illuminated. FUN FUN FUN...Probably the reason why many of the relay rounds (spare rounds for relays- 3 for prone shooting and 3 for stand shooting) were almost impossible to find Haha!
