SAC Mathew Bailey - Training Diary - 22 June 2012

I woke up at the end of my first training week back in Ruhpolding with a nice jog by the river to wake us up and get our muscles shaken out. After the jog the boss took us for our morning core session mixing it up with some exercises we hadn’t tried yet. We were skating up hochfellen this morning and started at 09.00. Coach split us down with me and carl doing alternative skate two all the way up then without any poles. Coach took the boss and grant up working on their skate one technique improving them each time. For Carl & I it was a good session working on our skate two and by the end we could see an improvement in the boss’s and grants technique as well. We then went back for a nice change to our normal tortellini lunch with the boss using last night's left over spag bol. In the afternoon we headed down the range for some more shooting training. it is still our first week back in shooting training it was still relaxed with the boss and grant continuing to get to grips with the rifle. We first went through so getting into position to fire drills with coach timing us to see if we could get in and out of position in certain times. We were all achieving these times so he shorted them to make it more of a challenge and make us faster for the winter. In between our shoots we classic skied the 1km loop of the track just to get some more time on the roller-skis. it was another good day down the range with lots of lessons learned all round.
