SAC Mathew Bailey - Training Diary - 06 July 2012

Grant on the TRX
Not big weights but a minute without pausing
Carl about to go over the wobbly tyres
It was another very nice day when we woke up today we all felt fresh for our last days training for the week. We were on the Siegsdorf loop this morning so headed down there to meet coach. We started right at the beginning of the loop today so we all set off together around it. Coach told Carl and I to do a full loop and meet him and grant as we went round so me Carl and I went off at a steady pace thinking about technique I was thinking about my skate 3 a lot today doing it on both sides getting power through my arms. About two thirds of the way around we passed coach and Grant coach told us there were road works further around the loop so to do a little further then turn around and go back the way we came. After we turned around and skated back eventually catching up with Grant and the coach right at the end. In the afternoon we had a different session, we were going down to the Great Britain’s team gym they had made from a converted barn that coach had named Rocky’s. After lunch we headed down there for our first gym session of the year. When we got there we found a proper barn with lots of gym equipment in it there was a good range of equipment in there with a bench press squat station, punch bag, skipping, double pole machine and TRX ropes. Grant Carl and I went for a little jog while coach set up a circuit in the gym. We got back to find coach had set up a good upper body and lower body circuit. There were four different groups of exercises with one time keeping one. The time keeping one was two minutes on the punch bag. After this was double pole machine for a minute then skipping then on to the TRX ropes pulling ourselves up from the floor. Followed by squats with the bar it was then on to bench press and step ups but onto and over some large tractor tyres. We did one minute on each exercise with one minute break in between groups. It was a good first gym session and I could feel my muscles aching after.
